Band Members
Jane Vocals |
Jane (AKA Cookie) is classically trained – Grade 8 with distinction and several classical and choral performances when ‘young’! She moved on to singing jazz and contemporary music during overseas residencies and with various bands in London. Jane met Paul back in 1995 and has sung in all of his band line-ups. Jane loves singing for special occasions and personalising the party experience! She also runs Jane Cooke’s Jazz which offers live, melody-led jazz as a duo, trio or quartet and is a great complement to The Dance Effect at functions, for example, during dinner. |
Paul Guitar/Vocals |
Paul is a graduate of the Guitar Institute in London (2002), and taught by some of the best RCM guitar teachers in London. He has extensive performance and band management experience including with two long established London-based bands. He is a director of Chichester Music Academy, and enjoys promoting music and musicianship in the lives of youngsters. |
Dave Sax/Vocals |
Dave is a founder member of the band, and multi-talented player of the alto and tenor sax and clarinet. He has had the funk since birth and soul and Motown are in his blood. ‘Disco’ Dave sings the odd funk/disco classic in the main sets and is the leader of the horn section in the big band. He also plays in a symphonic wind band and has performed in all the London concert halls, the Royal Northern College of Music, Kneller Hall, abroad and on radio. |
Pete Bass |
Pete studied for his first degree at Leeds Music College (specialising in jazz) and took a masters degree in music at Kingston University. He teaches on the degree course at Chichester College and is the principal bass tutor at Chichester Music Academy. Pete’s performance history is major-league: he has backed the Three Degrees and toured in Germany, at Butlins, on Carribean cruises and he has held residencies in Ibiza. Pete also plays bass in The Powerof3. |
Rich Drums |
For the last 12 years Rich has been teaching drums and performing in many different bands covering a staggering range of music styles, including rock, fusion, world music, hip hop and classical, as well as pop, jazz, soul and funk. He has played to thousands of people and toured up and down the country performing at festivals, clubs and all types of venue. Rich has also recorded in top London studios. Rob Keys |
After completing his Postgraduate Studies at the Royal Scottish Conservatoire in Piano Performance, Robert is currently working at the University of Chichester and as a freelance musician. He is classically trained and works mostly Musical Theatre, but has guilty pleasure for The Dance Effect sounds. |
George Vocals |
George is a Musical Director at the Chichester Music Academy where she runs the vocal programmes and musically directs Ovation. She has worked in music for over ten years and has sang and performed at many venues and festivals over the country including BBCs Cambridge folk festival. She is an accomplished vocal coach and musical director and loves working with young folks (and performing with a mixture of ages!). |
