Jane (AKA Cookie) is classically trained – Grade 8 with distinction and several classical and choral performances when ‘young’! She moved on to singing jazz and contemporary music during overseas residencies and with various bands in London. Jane met Paul back in 1995 and has sung in all of his band line-ups. Jane loves singing for special occasions and personalising the party experience! She also runs Jane Cooke’s Jazz which offers live, melody-led jazz as a duo, trio or quartet and is a great complement to The Dance Effect at functions, for example, during dinner.

Paul is a graduate of the Guitar Institute in London (2002), and taught by some of the best RCM guitar teachers in London. He has extensive performance and band management experience including with two long established London-based bands. He is a director of Chichester Music Academy, and enjoys promoting music and musicianship in the lives of youngsters.

Dave is a founder member of the band, and multi-talented player of the alto and tenor sax and clarinet. He has had the funk since birth and soul and Motown are in his blood. ‘Disco’ Dave sings the odd funk/disco classic in the main sets and is the leader of the horn section in the big band. He also plays in a symphonic wind band and has performed in all the London concert halls, the Royal Northern College of Music, Kneller Hall, abroad and on radio.

Pete studied for his first degree at Leeds Music College (specialising in jazz) and took a masters degree in music at Kingston University. He teaches on the degree course at Chichester College and is the principal bass tutor at Chichester Music Academy. Pete’s performance history is major-league: he has backed the Three Degrees and toured in Germany, at Butlins, on Carribean cruises and he has held residencies in Ibiza. Pete also plays bass in The Powerof3.
